Duties
The Primary Care Service line serves Veterans with varying degrees of psychiatric disorders and conditions and co-morbidities requiring medical and psychiatric interventions. 50% of this position is program faculty providing clinical care to Veterans and supervision to Primary Care NP post graduate residents and 50% program coordination for the PCNP residency programs.

Physical Requirements: Involves considerable amount of standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, lifting and turning. - Ensures programs are meeting all standards as set in the OAA curriculum and national accrediting bodies.
- 50%-time Nurse Residency Program Coordinator: Is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of evidence-based nursing education residency programs.
- 50%-time Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Residency Program Faculty: Will provide clinical supervision to residents and/or students, assist with responsibilities for the administration of the Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Residency Program at NCHCS. They must be clinically and academically qualified to provide effective leadership to the program in achieving its mission, goals and expected outcomes
- Instruct medical/nursing students, residents, and other learners that rotate through the Primary Care medical clinic.
- Effectively functions both autonomously as well as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

- Identifies areas for continuing education and participates in in-service training (including staying current with all required education)
- Utilizes VHA and community resources as appropriate.

Basic Requirements:

- (a) The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326. The ACEN accredits all levels of nursing programs, including clinical doctorate, masters/post-master's certificate, baccalaureate, associate and diploma nursing education programs. OR
- (b) The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 655 K Street, NW, Suite 7, Washington, DC 20001. The CCNE is an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and accredits nursing education programs at the bachelor and master's level.
- Foreign Education. Graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing programs, the nurse practitioner degree equivalency must be validated through an Agency recognized degree equivalency evaluation agency, such as the International Consultants of Delaware (ICD). Candidates with equivalent Nurse Practitioner masters or doctorate level degrees who possess current, full, active and unrestricted registration and certification (see paragraph 2c) will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant appointment.
