TriStar Summit is a 200 bed comprehensive facility. We serve Davidson, Wilson and surrounding counties. We include a Level III Trauma Center. We offer a full array of acute care services. These include cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics/spine, rehabilitation and women’s services. We are an Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI. We are a Primary Stroke Center. TriStar Summit is a leading provider of emergency heart and stroke care.

Job Summary and Qualifications
About this unit:
- To work in the Observation Unit, our nurses need strong assessment skills, the ability to think critically and adapt to new challenges, along with strong communication skills to care for our patient population and work with our interdisciplinary teams.
- Fast Paced Observation Unit treating our rule out stroke, chest pain, & abdominal pain patients.
- Brand New 25 bed unit with new equipment & technology; B450 monitors & new beds in each room
- Large nurses’ station with 3 new patient tracker mounted screens, new computers, and responder system.
- Beautiful breakroom with personal lockers, large mounted TV screen, and large windows
Job Summary:
- You will apply the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning
- You will develop and implement individual patient care plans in accordance with standards of nursing practice through implementation of the nursing process and nursing diagnosis.
- You will administer medications as ordered for specific group of patients and demonstrates knowledge of their modes of action, side effects and contraindications.
- You will initiate, regulate and otherwise manage IV therapy for a specific group of assigned patients.
- You will assume responsibility for patient placement on the unit and assignment of care responsibilities that consider complexity of nursing care required by each patient.
- You will evaluate patient environment for safety and communicate identified concerns to the appropriate person in a timely manner.
- You will provide patient education and keep patient informed of treatment plan.
Responsibilities:
- As an Observation unit, we are dedicated to our patients by providing quality care with attention to clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, patient safety and positive outcomes
- Provides direct patient care to the adult patient population.
- Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care
- Communicates with the physician and patient family as needed about patient condition.
- Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory.
- Participates in departmental performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
