Job Summary:
  • Renders individualized comprehensive Dialysis/Pheresis nursing care,
  • Performs Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis, and Therapeutic Plasma Exchange
  • Services provided on a 24-hour basis, as scheduled, to acute or critically ill patients
  • You will be responsible for patient assessment for vascular access, PICC placement and troubleshooting, input for protocol development based on Standards of Practice, staff education, and data collection.
  • You will serve as a consultant working directly with the nursing staff to identify, educate, and promote best practice in Vascular Access.
  • You will exemplify professional nursing practice within an autonomous team.
  • Responsible for regulatory compliance in terms of record keeping and environment of care management.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience and IV placement experience required.
  • Knowledge of specialty equipment and tool: Plasmapheresis preferred, Dialysis (prior experience preferred).
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

Key Points:
  1. Standard is 2:1 or 1:1 ratio based on acuity
  2. Expectation of 1 on call shift (1900-0700)/week and one 24hr on call shift (Sunday)/month. Expectations vary based on staff time off & overall number of staff in the department.
  3. All staff members will be trained on all disciplines of our department: Dialysis, Apheresis, and US Guided Vascular Access.
