Job Summary and Qualifications



Position Description:

The Ortho/Neuro/Spine Nurse Coordinator serves as a key member of the Surgical Services leadership team, responsible for managing a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, holistic coordination of care. The Coordinator will facilitate safe transitions of care from the hospital to home/facilities setting through utilization of informed decision-making and collaboration. The Coordinator will ensure that patients have a clear understanding of the treatment plan, support in decision-making and coordination of follow-up needs to facilitate the desired outcomes. The Coordinator streamlines the intervention process and collaborates with the health-care delivery team including physicians, perioperative staff, nutrition services, physiotherapy, registration, orthopedic nursing staff, families and community sources to identify and remove any barriers that may affect outcomes.

The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all services preformed are in conjunction with the mission and values of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, in a timely, efficient and cost-effective manner; including participation in goals and process according to the scope of practice guidelines.

In this position – you will:

  • Manage efficient flow of patients including screening and assessments
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment and medication instructions
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders
  • Round on patients with surgeons and when arriving for their procedures.


What qualifications you will need:

  • FL RN Licensure, or
  • Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred
  • Current BLS & ACLS Certifications (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
  • 3 - 5 years or more RN Perioperative experience preferred
